The Route 58 Delicatessen

This afternoon Veronica and I tried out a new restaurant...at least new to us. It is called the Route 58 Delicatessen which is on 4000 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 in the Loehmann's Plaza shopping center.
The menu was extensive with many styles of Reuben sandwiches, Matzo Ball soup, pastrami, corned beef, beef brisket, turkey, various kinds of Knishes and too many other delectables to list.
As good as, if not better than most New York delis.
You can get sandwiches large...a full lb of meat or a smaller 1/2 of meat sandwich.
I got the 1lb very lean pastrami and beef brisket sandwhich and Veronica got the roasted turkey 1lb sandwich.
These sandwiches were absolutely huge and reminded me of the size of sandwich I used to get at Arthur Bryants Bar-B-Que Restaurant in Kansas City.
Needless to say we took half of the food home with us for another meal.
They also had numerous styles of new York style cheesecake.
Due to the price it isn't a place that I would go often but to try it once...it was worth the experience and a delight to the tastebuds.

The Surgery That Almost Happened

Unfortunately my back surgery got postponed due to some very high blood pressure issues. Environmental stress can do that to a person. Changes will be made to rectify the issue. I will get the surgery done in the near future...most likely after the first of the year. Until then I will get another round of Radio Frequency Ablations (RFA) which hopefully will give me a much needed break from the pain until I can get the surgery completed.

Getting Closer To My Surgery Date

This upcoming Thursday, 10/5, I will be having my back surgery. I have to be at the hospital by 6:30 in the morning for an 8:30 surgical time. Projected stay in the hospital is 3 days.
Tomorrow Veronica and I will be attending a 2 hour pre-operative class at the hospital to inform us of what we can expect before, during and after the surgery.
Due to the amount of stress that has been and currently is being generated by a certain unnamed person within this household it has been decided that it is in my best interest to get and stay at a hotel in the area until my surgery.
I need to get my blood pressure down before the surgery or else they will most likely cancel it, and if I continued staying where I am currently at there is no way that will be happening....my stress level dropping. So we will pack up a suitcase and be out of here tomorrow. We will go to our hotel after the class is finished, where I will begin decompressing from all the stress that is created in my day to day life. As if having surgery isn't stressful enough there is always someone that wants to add additional stress into the mix.
Due to the needs and wants of another I have put taking care of myself on the back burner. It is now MY turn!
