Day #7 Our Return To Venice And A Day Excursion To The Islands Of Murano And Burano

Today is the end of the 1st leg of our back to back cruise. Some of our fellow cruisers will be getting off the ship and leaving us. Others will be staying but going on excursions just like ourselves and others will be staying on board. Then there will be new passengers checking in for the next leg on the journey.
Veronica and I decided to take an excursion to the Islands of Murano and Burano. It is a total of 4 hours for this excursion so we are hoping that will will have some free time to walk around to take pictures and to do some shopping. Not very often you get to come to these places and we don't want to miss out. We were thinking about trying to arrange going to these islands on our own but did not want to take any type of chances, although we don't have to be back on board until 1700 hours. After departing Venice we will be on our way to Koper, Slovenia.
This is where we picked up our boat for our ride out to Murano and Burano. This was one busy area for boat traffic.

They had some really nice mega yachts in some of the ports we visited and Venice was no exception

The views heading out to the islands was fantastic!

Below is a fancy hotel in Venice...the Hilton Molino Stucky

This statue is called the Pink Lady. The artist designed the piece in honor of a woman he had met at the Special Olympics

Here we are coming into Murano...famous for their glass making

These two gents were awaiting the next boat load of visitors to their glass blowing shop

Murano was not nearly as busy as we thought it would be. It took us about an hour to get here and we only had about 50 minutes to walk around.

We saw a couple of sets of these rowers in these boats. Not sure if they were practicing or what.

 Here are some more rowers.

Were are now leaving Murano and heading to Burano.

We are coming into Burano. Burano was a much busier and much more interesting place to visit that Murano was. Unfortunately we were only allowed 35 minutes to walk around. We could have spent the whole day here. I wish that we had made our own travel arrangements and got a boat to take us ou here early in the morning and got a boat to take us back in the afternoon. Maybe next time.

Burano had a lot of character and I found it to be a very interesting place.

The outskirts of town was very quiet but once you got into town itself...it was really busy

If you looked close enough you could still find a quiet alley

Its was time to head back to the ship unfortunately

We bid Burano a fond farewell

And back in our cabin Pepito had been busy with his towel animals
