This is part 2 of our most recent adventure. Here are some photos taken while we were in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The area where our ship docked was vastly different from the last time we had visited in 2010. There had been and there was continuing to be quite a bit of new construction there.
A Viking cruise line ship was also in Saint Petersburg
Much of what is depicted in the photos are of new construction and many of the finished building are empty
Below is a new stadium
We went on a private tour of Saint Pertersburg using DenRus, which we used the last time we had visited the city. This time we asked to go places where the tourists don't normally go. On our previous visit we did a 2 day tour that covered most of the usual tourist attractions..museums etc.
We got a tour of several subway stops. Much of what we saw was beautifully decorated and at times felt like we were in a museum. All locations were extremely clean.
We also had the chance to just walk the streets where the working class Russian citizens lived.
Below is an outdoor market and the next photo was of an indoor maqrket.
A hotel in Saint Petersburg
Street art
A small cafe in Saint Petersburg
Our guide took us to a hidden gem near a small park in Saint Petersburg. The artistic walls of this building were adorned with brightly colored mosaic tiles and there was a nice park and fountain in the same area.
From our ship you can see a Viking cruise line ship along with housing seen in the background.
