This is the start of Our Adventures in Rome Part 4
Today we decided to walk to the Tiber River and go to the Jewish Ghetto area in Rome.
Below is The Capitoline Hill, between the Forum and the Campus Martius, is one of the Seven Hills of Rome. The hill was earlier known as Mons Saturnius, dedicated to the god Saturn
During our walk we stopped to get something to drink. We sat outside and noticed this pass where the dirty dishes from the outside eating area could be handed to the dish washing person. This bird was wise enough to figure out that the table scraps going through this opening were about as good a pigeon buffet as it would find in Rome
One thing that we noticed about Rome was that there was no scarcity of small/tiny cars. They were everywhere and were parked everywhere. Finding places to park seemed to be quite the chore in Rome

We arrived in the Jewish Ghetto section of Rome. The Ghetto was established in 1555 in the Rione Sant’Angelo, near the Tiber River in the southern part of Campo de’Fiori. Its borders were laid down in a Papal Bull along with various discriminatory laws about what professions Jews could and could not hold. One of the accepted professions, that of selling fish, still lends its name to streets in the area of the old fish market. Though the neighborhood now commands some of the highest property prices in Rome, the original Jewish Ghetto (known simply as the Roman Ghetto) was walled-in and crowded. It was built on low, malarial land subject to regular floods from the Tiber. Life was grim until the Ghetto walls were torn down in 1888.
