Here are the last of the photos from our most recent trip to Paris, France...Part 7
Below is th type of boat that we took for our canal cruise. Here is a link for the company that ran the canal cruise that we went on...Croisieres Canauxrama canal cruise. The canal cruise started at th Arsenal Marina and ended at the Parc de la Villette. This canal cruise lasted 2 1/2 hours and cost 18 euros...a really good price for what we got.
The canal cruise started with us going under the Bastille. There were openings above us that let light come in
We went through quite a number of gates which once are boat was in the lock the lock would fill up with water and raise the boat to the level on the other side of the lock.
They were quite a few bridges that went over the canal along with numerous locks. We got to see parts of Paris that we would not have normally been able to see and it gave us a totally different perspective of our surroundings
Below is an eample of one of the many locks that we went through. Veronica and I were the only people at the front most section of this boat. Most people stayed inside and looked through the windows. Unfortuntely there was a malfunction in one of the locks. Veronica and I were at the front of the boat and something went wrong when the water was supposed to slowly fill up the lock and raise the boat to a higher lever. The cold water ended up flooding into the lock and the whole front of the boat took a direct hit with the powerful water rushing over the bow of the boat, knocking the plastic chairs everywhere and getting my jeans pant legs absolutely soaked.
Below is another canal cruise boat from a different company
The area that we floated through was a street art lovers paradise
Looking back at a lock that we just went through
