9th Day Of Our Vacation In Paris, France

Today we had a special day planned out. We met with one of Veronica's friends through work, Vanja and Vanja's friend Pierre. Vanja was coming into Paris via a train from Belgium and Pierre was a resident of Paris. We decided to meet up at base of Montmarte. As we were waiting for Vanja and Pierre to arrive, Veronica and I walked around meeting up with a street performer and doing a little shopping in the various fabric stores that were in the area.

Below is a photo of some of the fabric stores in the area

A little street art in the area

To get to the top of Montmarte you can either walk up or...

take the funicular up

Sacre-Coeur- a church on top of Montmarte
Below are photos of a carousel that was located at the bottom of Montmarte

After meeting up with our friends Pierre gave us a guided tour of the area around where he lives

We saw plenty of street art along our way

We had originally just walked past this "store" which looked a lot different from anything I had ever seen. I asked Pierre what it was that we had just walked passed. Our whole group returned and walked into this room that had a lot of mini storage type of units. Some of these units had fruit, vegetables or wine in it. Each unit was numbered and had some type of receipt in it. We found out that local farmers brought their crops or whatever they grew or bottled and had it up for sale. We were able to watch local customers come in and by watching and "talking" to them, we found out that the customers could either go online to purchase whatever they wanted from what was on sale or they could walk in, look at what was being offered, walk up to a computerized machine/screen, put the amount of cash for one or more of these storage units. After paying via this computerized register the unit would automatically unlock for the customer to be able to take the products that they paid for.

Some of the sights we saw during our walk

Pigalle is an area in Paris around the Place Pigalle, which is on the border between the 9th and the 18th arrondissements. It is named after the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Pigalle. Moulin Rouge is in this area along with Paris’ red light district.

There was a street that went over the railroad tracks and other train related machinery. I found it to be a great photo oportunity so I stood on a ledge and took photos between the chain link fence that was there

While we were walking around I found this older couple doing a little "window shopping"

A little of the interesting architecture that was everywhere you turned in Paris

Some of the beautiful flowers that were in one of the many flowers shops throughout Paris

As the day drifted by we strolled into a beautiful public park

There were a couple of "ponds" in this park.

There was a small bridge that went over one of these ponds. The water was fairly still so it made for a perfect photo opportunity for some reflection photos. Below are all reflection photos that I took from this bridge or close by. I played with the color on some of them in my editing program to see what I could get out of it.

The sun was slowly starting to set. The sky took on colorful tones.

As we walked around we saw this unicorn near the entrance of one of the buildings we walked past
We ended the day with our friends near the Arche de Triomphe. Vanja had to catch a train to go back to Belgium so we had to bid our friends a fond farewell. Hopefully we will see them again in the future.

A little street art we saw on our way back to our apartment after a long day of sight seeing
