September 11th 2001 Also Known As 9/11

In every generation there is always some event that occurs that has a direct impact on a person, region, country or globally.
Some of these events have an impact on the course of history and these changes can be either good or bad, or a combination of both.
These events could be the assasination of a person such as Martin Luther King or John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The event could be something in the form of a catastrophic natural event such as a tsunami, earthquake or volcanic eruption. Or it could be the beginning or the end of another war or even the bigging or ending of a relationship.
The list of these important events go on and on.
The one constant is that each generation has them and there is at least one event in ones life when the event happens and you remember exactly where you were or what you were doing when you first heard about the event.
I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard about the horrific details surrounding 9/11.
On Tuesday, September 11th 2001, Veronica and I were living in Soddy Daisy, TN. We had just pulled into a gas station/convenience store to get some gas.
When I went inside to pay, the female working behind the counter had her radio on and there was a very early report of a small plane that had crashed into one of the Twin Towers at the World trade Center in New York city.
We left the gas station listening to our own car radio knowing that something much bigger was occurring but only getting small mixed up bits and pieces of the event over the airwaves.
After stopping by the Post office, we returned home and turned on the television.
What had already happened and what was happening now, was being fully displayed on the television and it was almost beyond our comprehension. We were visually watching history being changed and being formed for future generations to come.
I remember that day like it was yesterday.
Last night around 10:45PM or so, Veronica and I were watching the Apprentice on television. I am sure that it was not unlike the scene played out in many American homes across our country and even homes all across the world. Not that everyone was watching the Apprentice but each being somewhere or with someone or doing something that will become a bookmark of time in ones memory.
While watching the show, a news report was crawling across the bottom of our television screen. President Obama was going to address the nation about an important event.
Shortly after the news crawl had appeared, the channel switched over to the news reporters.
It was at that moment the we first heard that Osama Bin Laden had been killed.
We tried to stay up as late as we could to get more details and to listen to what our President had to tell us but Veronica had to be up at 5 o'clock this morning so we ended up going to sleep.
The details of this history changing event was greeting everyone this morning and was being played out in every form of media.
This major event won't stop the pain or suffering felt by those friends and family members that lost other friends or family members on 9/11.
This major event won't stop the pain or suffering of those who lived through the event or those who were responders to the event.
This major event also won't change the embedded visuality of the original event whether it was seen in person or through the tv screen.
With all of that said..... and with the deepest of sorrow, respect and condolences to all of the people that were touched by the original tragic event, today is a good day.
This latest event won't change what has already happened. Nothing can nor ever will.
Last night we found out that someone did not get away with mass murders.
Last nights announcement of this major event might provide some sort of closure for some of those who had been touched by the original events back in 2001.
As far as this latest event...the day...the time....the place where I first heard about it, is etched in my memory forever....another bookmark of time in my memory.
In every generation there is always some event that occurs that has a direct impact on a person, region, country or globally.
The killing of Osama Bin Laden was one of those events.
And yes.....today is a good day.
