Stormy Weather

We had a little excitement last night. Veronica and I were watching tv in our bedroom when a weather alert interrupted the program that we were watching. Throughout the day we had been having off and on showers with thunder but nothing really exciting. Now we were being told that there was a tornado warning and that a confirmed tornado was about 1 mile away from the house. We scurried downstairs so that we would be closer to the laundry room, which is about the most interior room in the house. Of course being the closet meteorologist that I am....I was opening the front door so I could check out the sky along with the flooding rain that was coming down in buckets. I have always loved bad stormy weather...something about gray swirling clouds or a real dark wall cloud that gets me excited. And if you want to really get me excited, start talking about updrafts, downdrafts, isobars or virga. And if you even dare to mention the Coriolis Effect to me....well let's just say that those words would push me to the point of no return. To sum it up....ones persons stormy weather is another persons aphrodisiac. Unfortunately all of the weather excitement diminished and subsided within 5 minutes....not much different from the way it is in other areas of my life.

5 minutes is a long time in the aphrodisiacal time frame, eh? well, at least for some. (Did i say that?!) Same way I don't do snakes? same way I don't do tornadoes. Have been in two, up close and personal ... dude, I won't even visit my Nebraska kinfolk during tornado season up in those parts. So sorry, you're not gonna hear a lot of downdraft, updraft banter outta MY yap!

Wow sounds exciting! I love Stormy days ! WE have had ONE experance with a Tornado here in Fl, In almost 18 yrs that we live here, it went right by the side of our home did no damage but went a few mile down the street and took out a whole neighborhood. We have been very luck most of the storms seem to go around our area. they don't even come close. But I guess that is ok too. There is enough going on in this crazy world we don't need to add to it. But I will say this we need rain so very bad we are on regulated Water use.agin all the other parts seem to get the rain too but not us weird yes!
well you and Veronica have a wonderful vacation I am sure your both looking foward to it.
Hugs :o)

Better you than me! Where I live here in Northern Maine, I so appreciate the little storms that I get, but I like the safety of where I live. Tornadoes, volcanoes, and hurricanes are reasons why I have no interest in leaving the Saint John Valley. I'll keep the snow and the short summers, thank you very much.

Sounds like it was a lot of fun :D

Here we get hurricanes, but I live so far North that we usually end up with some heavy rain and wind. The earthquakes are scary though. Living right next to a dormant volcano is also scary!
