Is American Idol's Adam Lambert Gay???

I was just on AOL and was reading some of their news stories that they show on their site. I came across one about American Idol and Adam Lambert. The story had to do with whether Adam Lambert was gay or not and whether America was ready for a gay American Idol winner. I am not sure if you are Idol fans out there. I watch because I enjoy seeing the young talent out there and some of the singers are really good. I have watched Adam Lambert sing for several weeks and have always felt that he was one of the front runners to win the contest. I find it really offensive that anyone would even care about this young mans sexual preference. What has that got to do with anything. I don't think the show is called Straight American Idol or Tranny American Idol or Bi American Idol...it is just American Idol...a singing contest for people from every walk of life. Color of skin, religious beliefs, sexual preference, gender....none of that has any place in this venue nor anywhere else for that matter. Personally, I find Adam Lambert to have great vocals and he is quite original when he puts his take on a song. Why can't we just keep Idol as it was intended to be...a showcase for up and coming vocal talent. Nothing more and nothing less.

I agree Rick, and I wonder how that news might affect voters on AI. I don't think he is in the closet about his sexuality, but he's not out there telling everyone one way or the other in either direction.

i hear ya. totally agree. it's a singing competition and music transcends barrier. who cares what his sexual preference is...as long as he rocks the stage, i'll definitely support him.

Hi Rick, yes, am in full agreement with you on this one. Who cares? What does his sexuality have to do with anything. His talent speaks for itself.
There are a lot of gay entertainers out there that have made it big. Guess the writer of that article has issues of their own?? you think?

Amen, Rico -- I mean, why can't it EVER just REMAIN 'about the talent', without all the reality show sideliner personality b.s.? I feel the same way about Top Chef, one of the FEW FEW FEW TV shows I 'allow myself' --- I don't need to know which of the contestants are gay or straight, let it PLEASE just be about the cooking -- but it never is. pffft.

I like him regardless of his preference. I dont care! It doesnt matter if he's heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, trisexual, or quadrasexual. As long as his vocals stay good, I'm sold.

Where would we be without Elton John or Melissa Ethridge?

100% agree with you Rick , If this man is Gay oh well his business, but being in the lime light you know they are going to put it all out there if he can take it great if not he will just fade away, If you remember NSYNC from back in the 90's. they were a all boy group and they were GREAT, My Daughter was a huge fan the media broke the news that one of them were Gay as well. not a big deal they still did very very well and they all went on to do great things on their own. it is all because of the media. they make or break a person spirit. Live and let live.

I so agree with you!! Have they forgotten Clay Aiken?

To be honest with you, and everyone else who may read this, I could care less about Adam's sexual preference. Would it determine his talent or skill? My middle school students have brought this up a couple of weeks ago, and I asked them the same thing. Especially in this day and age, you would think that an artist's sexual preference would be the least of anyone's concerns.

I, too, love to watch American Idol, and I think focusing on such a trivial issue takes away from what the show is really about. Thanks for bringing it up.

I hate how America can be so homophobe sometimes... Like you said, this is supposed to be about talent, not sexual preferences...

Hi Rick,
I agree isn't this the year 2009! Haters need to stop hating and promote piece, harmony & love for one another. I'm so tired of people that judge others for race, beliefs & yes, sexual preference among many other discriminators. American Idol needs to be about the talent and that he is...
