BLOGGING MEMORIES OF LIFE Followup

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has visited my blog and for all of the comments that were left too. Many people, through their comments, wanted to know what relationship Veronica and I share. Veronica is my wife of just over 11 years. She is also my best friend. I think that it is also important for me to explain why I continue to blog and why I wrote the entry BLOGGING MEMORIES OF LIFE. When I first started my blog, I did it mainly to present my nature and flower photography with others. I was diagnosed with Mast Cell Disease several years ago. If you go back in my blog, you will finds entries about that medical issue. Just this last year, after being a smoker for about 34 years, I found out that I had myoplasia on the right side of my tongue. It was a pre-cancerous growth and yes it made quitting smoking a very easy decision and task. This medical issue is also discussed in depth, in some of my earlier blog entries. Because of these 2 events it gave me a different viewpoint of life, living and of my own mortality. Currently all medical issues are in check but you never really know when something will change. In some ways I continue to write in this blog as a way of preparing for my eventual death. I realize that this might sound rather morbid but it is a fact of life that I accept. It might not be today...tomorrow or the next day but it will happen. I wanted to leave something behind that Veronica could read, reminisce and hopefully it would bring a smile on her face after I was gone....giving her a partial look at the footprints through my life including things that we shared together. I guess like most of you out there...I just want to be remembered...to leave something behind that would mean something to others. Like I refered to in the original entry....I welcome all of you in sharing my continued journey but at the end of the day and the lights dim...it is mainly for Veronica that I do this.

I would like to take a moment to thank YOU for continuing your writings. Like I said on your original 'memories' post, Veronica is a very lucky lady. I think a lot of people are dealing with their own mortality here. And I think it's great not morbid :) I too suffer from diseases that could take me away at any moment. It's nice (in an odd way) to connect with other people that are doing the same. I hope you and Veronica have a great day.

Good to hear that all your medical stuff is ok for now. Congrats on quitting smoking by the way. My grandpa died cause he couldn't stop.

I don't think it's morbid to write so you can leave something behind. Everyone is going to die someday, but not everyone realizes it.

Oh, and congrats on ten years of marriage, that's an accomplishment these days.

I just found your blog on blogs of note and have spent quite a bit of time this morning reading it. I really like it and will be reading it quite often. I noticed on one of your posts that you lived at Ft. Stewart back in the 70's, I also lived there from 71-74! My ex-stepfather was in the army. I think I fished every little pond in the area while I lived there. And those tank trails were a blast to ride my bike on! Anyway, glad to find your blog and I'll talk to you later.

Hi,
I was enjoying your notes. Congratulations on 10 years with your beloved. My beloved and I are headed toward 23. Also wonderful news that you are able to stay off the smokes. Being a fellow quitter I commiserate with you the difficulty that comes with quitting. My wife tells me I was a PAIN for the first 3 months.

Lastly, I wanted to share with you there is more to life than this world. There is hope for tomorrow; more to come after this shell of a body is rotting in ground or cremated to dust.

I invite you to email me if you care to hear more. It is the most comforting hope all.

Maybe it is because of your subject matter. Maybe because of your style of writing... the fact that you love... or the fact that you are facing your mortality. Maybe it is the music touching our souls in the background. Or maybe it is the combination of all these elements that makes this spot uniquely yours. Whatever the reason... your blog strikes a chord in our hearts; it evokes emotion... and, in that emotion for a moment, we feel alive. Muchas gracias.

First of all, thank you for commenting on my blog. I've just discovered yours and after reading quickly a few posts I had to save it on my favorites because I thought 'here is an interesting one'. And that is actually rare. Now, getting to know the reasons why you do it, there is no doubt you have the best ones. Congratulations.
P.S. - I'm sorry for any error I might comit while writing.

You're not morbid at all. I find it inspiring that you've chosen to create a legacy of sorts through your words. Looking back, I wish I had started mine sooner.

It is my belief that we should all live like we are dying, because we all are. No one is guaranteed a tomorrow. Enjoy today. Share a memory. Make someone laugh. Touch a heart. Keep at it, you are doing good work.

I am new to blogging.I saw your title and clicked on it. I don't think that you are morbid at all. I think that if more people would come to grips with their own mortality the world would be a better place to live. Congratulatons on beating the nicotine! You and Veronica have a wonderful weekend.

I have read all the wonderful comments written to you. At the risk of sounding repetitive, thank you for commenting on my blog. I have enjoyed reading yours. It touched my heart and I wish you and Veronica many more years together. I'm sure she is touched by all you have written and by all you have not said. You are lucky to have each other. Take care, my new found blogger friend. Hope to read more of your world.

Wow...
I enjoy perusing the Blogger 'blog of the day' so to speak, but yours was something I never expected. Sure I've come across avid gardeners, and knitters, and whatnot-er's but your blog struck me in a way I never expected.

Your comment, "In some ways I continue to write in this blog as a way of preparing for my eventual death. I realize that this might sound rather morbid but it is a fact of life that I accept." made me feel both happy for you and yet sad at the same time. Your family will be blessed to have your words to look back on forever but it's sad that you'll not be with them as long as they would want.

I'll be back.

I would like thank you for such beautiful pictures, have never seen such butterflies in all my life. Where I stay its just plain yellows, whites or the rust colored ones..not to say that they arnt beautiful.
Secondly, I would like to say here and hope you dont mind my saying that please dont wait for something negative to happen to you. Its the law of the Universe to give you eventually what you want or wait for. So hope and wait for the best and think positive :)

They're right..
your wife is a very lucky woman.

at a very young age (well, not so young at 17, eh?)... i know how it feels not to be remembered.

even parents forget..

I salute you for the things that you do..

don't let death be the only way you'll be remembered.

cheers!

Enjoy life!
